Inclement Weather Closings
If Chesapeake Public Schools close for inclement weather, we will be closed, too. The lesson (which will not count against their attendance) can be made-up during their regular Make-Up Time. If you call the studio after 3:00 PM on a weekday (or after 8:30 AM on Saturday) and get a recording (not a person), we are closed.
2018 Recital Information
44th Annual Dance Recital
in May 2018
Important Recital Information
We usually hold 2 different Dance Recitals at Willett Hall on Saturday in May beginning at 5:00 PM and on Sunday in May beginning at 2:00 PM. Most students will be in one recital or the other, but a few students may be in both recitals.
A Mandatory Dress Rehearsal for all performers and Dance Recital numbers
(except the Spotlight Dance Team numbers that competed more than twice during the year) will be held at Willett Hall on the day before their scheduled performance. You do not need to be present for the whole Dress Rehearsal - just for every number you perform in. Your time to be at Dress Rehearsal will be announced during Recital Picture Week.
Each performer will receive
voucher for one
free ticket to the Recital they are in. This voucher can only be redeemed for one
free ticket in person at the Willett Hall Box Office or
may be exchanged for merchandise from Maureen's Dancewear Shop. Since seating is reserved, you should purchase your tickets at the same time in order to sit together. We suggest you get your tickets as early as possible!
Everyone entering the auditorium (except those under 2 years old sitting on your lap) must have a ticket - including the performer.
You may purchase tickets through: Ticketmaster by Phone at 800-745-3000,
Ticketmaster online at
or at the Willett Hall Box Office (Monday - Friday from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM). Tickets for each Dance Recital will be available for purchase beginning at 10:00 AM date TBA on a first come, first served basis.
WARNING - We strongly suggest that if you're buying online, use Ticketmaster only.
To be fair to all performers, students are not allowed to perform in the recital if:
miss any amount of time over 7 times
during the year in one class
(not counting scheduled holidays or days when we are closed for inclement weather).
They don't rehearse their number on stage with their class during their scheduled Dress Rehearsal.
Their lesson account is not paid in full by Saturday, May 5, 2018.
DEADLINE FOR ALL DANCE RECITAL COSTUME PAYMENTS
IS SATURDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2017 AT 12 NOON.
Each student in the Dance Recital is required to purchase a costume for each number they perform in.
To make it easier for parents, we order everything they need for the Dance Recital (except dance shoes) including costumes, headpieces, tights, most props (unless otherwise noted), and their Souvenir Recital T-Shirt, which is required to be worn during the Recital or anytime they are in the audience.
All costumes must be paid in full on or before the deadline to be ordered. Costumes will be needed for Recital Pictures, Dress Rehearsal(s) and the Dance Recital(s). Costume payments may be made with cash, check or credit cards - Visa, Master Card or Discover or by Auto Pay.
We’ll gladly take costume payments in installments ahead of time as long as the balance is paid in full on or before the deadline. If you want your costume payment taken from your Auto Pay Account, please see receptionist by Tuesday, November 21, 2017.
Each class will have a Costume Try-On day during one class in the spring (please check the calendar). A mother (or other responsible female adult who will be helping them backstage) must accompany each student (under 16 years of age) to class for the costume fitting and to get important instructions. If you do not come to your scheduled Costume Try-On Day, there will be one Costume Try-On Make-Up Day (TBA).
